Compositeur, chercheur et artiste numérique, formé au CNSMD de Paris (3e cycle), à l’université (HDR) et à l’IRCAM, Stéphane de Gérando explore les liens entre imaginaire et création algorithmique. Depuis 2006, il développe Le Labyrinthe du temps, une œuvre qualifiée de monumentale par la presse.

Ses recherches ont récemment fait l’objet d’une communication au colloque international Mathematics and Computation in Music au Bard College dans l’État de New York et d’une publication chez Springer Nature cosignée avec Gilles Baroin. Son disque Morphilude, interprété par le flûtiste Matteo Cesari et paru chez ACEL, a reçu aux États-Unis le Flute Almanac Distinction Award, prix international « décerné à des projets de vision artistique exceptionnelle et d’innovation ».

Stéphane de Gérando assure la direction artistique et scientifique de la SIMEC, Semaine internationale de la musique électroacoustique et de la création, à Amiens, où il enseigne la composition mixte et électroacoustique au CRR d’Amiens Métropole. Il a par ailleurs fondé FINETERRE, agence d’édition et de production proposant des cycles de conférences sur l’IA et la création (grandes écoles, entreprises, universités, conservatoires…) et des installations high-tech pour les musées et les institutions, ainsi que des créations mixtes, polyartistiques et technologiques.

Composer, researcher and digital artist, trained at the CNSMD de Paris (third cycle), at university (HDR) and at IRCAM, Stéphane de Gérando explores the links between imagination and algorithmic creation. Since 2006 he has been developing The Labyrinth of Time, a work the press has called monumental.

His research was recently presented at the international conference Mathematics and Computation in Music at Bard College, New York State, and published by Springer Nature in a paper co-written with Gilles Baroin. His album Morphilude, performed by flautist Matteo Cesari and released by ACEL, received the Flute Almanac Distinction Award in the United States, an international prize “awarded to projects of exceptional artistic vision and innovation”.

Stéphane de Gérando is the artistic and scientific director of SIMEC, the International Week of Electroacoustic Music and Creation, in Amiens, where he teaches mixed and electroacoustic composition at the CRR d’Amiens Métropole. He also founded FINETERRE, a publishing and production agency offering lecture series on AI and creation (grandes écoles, companies, universities, conservatoires…) and high-tech installations for museums and institutions, as well as mixed, polyartistic and technological creations.
